 Nagendrappa was born in Shivarampet, Mysore to a middle class family in 1935. His father Rajappa was a musician himself. Nagendra and his brother Rajan worked together as music directors in Kannada films. They were the first who brought popular hindi film singer Kishore Kumar to sing for the movie "Kulla Agent 000". It would be of little doubt that they hold the record as the longest active musical pair in the film industry. Some of their hit films include, Nyayave Devaru, Gandhada Gudi, Bhagyavantaru, Hombisilu
