Vasant Desai              -Composer of Genre Vasant Desai was born in 9th June 1912 in Kudal, Maharashtra. He got attracted towards "Dashavataari Naatak", a folk form of drama at a very early age and started singing Laavani, Powadaa on stage. He first appeared in a movie "Khoon Khanjar" as a actor. Popularly known as Fakir (means non-materialistic), he was a bachelor and completely absorbed in his music. He always remembered as a music director of a special genre. Among his hit movies are, He Maajhee Laxmi, Baap Majha Bramhachari, Shyamchi Aai, Majhee Zameen.    Did You Know ? Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar acted and sang for the first time in a movie "Pahli Mangalagaur" directed by Vinayak Rao, at the age of only twelve, just on the 8th day of her father Deenanath's death, to feed her younger siblings.   As their rich heritage prompts them, the marathi speaking people stand clearly distinguished in the field of music.
